Domowik

Domowik, Domownik (2017.VIII) – In old Slavic folk culture, Domowiki played the role of guardian demons because they were seen as the spirits of ancestors. They watched over the home, farm and family, of which they were an integral part. However, they had to be treated appropriately, fed and left drink so that they would not make a mess in the cottage or run away. When moving, it was also necessary to seek their favor to abandon the old nest and start a new life in a new place.

My Domowik is an old man who is crouched on a wooden stool by the stove with a stone windlass on his lap, watching and listening to the family in the room.

The sculpture was made of clay fired for 7 hours at a temperature of 1200̊C. It is resistant to weather conditions. Its lifespan, excluding harmful mechanical effects, is 2000-3000 years!
